(1) The Hard Way Twice Poem by Uriah Hamilton

(1) The Hard Way Twice

Every sunrise
is the immense
profit of existence.

I've brought myself
to value gratitude
for a single breath
and the current hour.

There are decisions
that bring flowers
and decisions
that multiply sorrows:
life requires careful contemplations.

I've lived long enough
to gaze backwards toward my mistakes:
friendships I refused
or neglected opportunities to win
a glittering prize.

A young girl
once looked into my eyes
and told me you're the type
who slowly has to learn
everything the hard way twice.
