074. Failed Father Poem by Jaden Knight

074. Failed Father

All the tears I have ever cried
collect in a pool at my feet
the water shows no reflection
I look into the depths
and wish that I knew my father

Where are you Dad
why can’t I hear your voice
when I call out for you
why do I hear nothing

I want to find you dad
to see if you are still alive
and when I have found you
there are some questions I need to ask

Where were you when I needed you
when I needed support and care
why was I never taught to love by you
when I needed that from the start

Why did you abandon me
before I could see your face
did you never love me
why did you leave me to die

the water shows no reflection ............nicely written i don't think my father taught me to love and i don't know if he loved me either, BUT i thought he was a good father and he provided well for his family. my wife sometimes accuses me of not knowing how to love, but she is JUST woman, so what does SHE know! ? [that is supposed to be darkly-funny] i am not romantic, but hey, i never saw my parents being romantic, and rarely, if ever, affectionate towards one another. they had their good times and bad times but basically were together for over 60 years and raised five pretty good human beings. my condolences to the speaker in this poem. : ( a well-rendered so·lil·o·quy; yes, i checked the definition and spelling and pasted the word here. soliloquy, that is; that's why it is full of hyphens. nice, Prof. ............i tried to see the mother poem also, but didn't get it to appear the first time; i'll try again. :) bri
