Sleigh Ride

From an old hick town not far away
I hear an almost noiseless sleigh
I wondered what its all about
Until I heard their voices shout
To the town hall I hear them say
To the Ball that's there all night we'll stay While a mid-twenties sailor aboard
ship in the Pacific Ocean
during World War II, young sailors
turned to Peter to help them write
letters to their sweethearts back home
such as: I Love You I love you Miss Nicely so very much When I go to bed nightly you're within touch With my head on my pillow Thoughts of you in my head I close my eyes lightly I'm happy in bed This fellow married the young
lady when war ended
