Patrice Dixon Poems

Our eyes peep open and flutter with uncertainty
The blurry illusion of hope and prosperity

Boundless affection exudes from those around
...

There's a string, a rope, a piece of lace
That calls the shots and reacts to the situations you face

That string is like a spear, a sword, a dart
...

We took off so well
Floating above the clouds
No one else in sight
Just me and you around
...

I push I pull I and try to find
The answers that will free and ease my mind

I know what I know and think what I think
...

Drip..
Drop...

My heart stopped. Beating.
...

So alone
With so many friends
A long list of acquaintances,
Yet the loneliness never ends
...

Complex Simplicity

Our eyes peep open and flutter with uncertainty
The blurry illusion of hope and prosperity

Boundless affection exudes from those around
Penetrating your emotions, like a jungle, without a sound

The truth intensifies as we grow older
The constant reality of looking over our shoulder
Day by day, sifting through the disguise
Avoiding those, who are out to diminish our sunrise

To bring you down, so low that you can’t cope
Into a downward spiral, sucked, into their mental slope

But know this there will always be a ray of light
Someone who comforts you, as we struggle through this fight

The fight to learn, to grow, to understand and belong
To fulfill your dreams and sing your victory song

The anguish that is Life, that is love, that is loss
Bleeds us dry with the highest emotional cost

But still we yearn for such complexity
Because it gives us peace of mind, it gives us simplicity.
