Here is the tale of the Wrockwardine lad
Who lived in this village now misses it like mad
He wonders round from town to town
But his heart in Wrockwardine can be found

The typewriter is a great machine
So why does it make people talk obscene?
A normally quiet and temperate soul
Once on a typewriter, soon loses control

Wrockwardine Lad

Here is the tale of the Wrockwardine lad
Who lived in this village now misses it like mad
He wonders round from town to town
But his heart in Wrockwardine can be found

The Wrockwardine lad is real and not fiction
And people quite often ask him this question
What makes you say you're a Wrockwardine lad?
It simply because of the good times that I had

W is the Wrekin I could see from my front door
R is for the Rural life, the sweet smell of manure
O is for the Oneness I feel when I am there
C is for the Carefree way I lived without a care
K is something Keen in me to go back when I can
W to Witness theres no change to the village plan
A is for the Avenue, Alms houses on the end
R is for the Reverend Powell whose church I did attend
D is for the Dirt track on the gorse were we would race
I is for my Identity I found within this place
N is for the Nuisance as a boy that I would cause
E is for just Everything, which deserves all my applause

To me it is my hamlet home
With me no matter where I roam
When I need peace I find it there
The Wrockwardine Lad for this place really cares
