In droves they came
On drives, on rides, on legs
To lay him to rest
But they lay the rest
They pass the casket
Lined up like alphabets
Head bowed like the 'f' alphabet
Teary mucus in glass-splattering droplets
A sniff sniff
A stiff sniff
Seated, lips bubbling in whispers
like lake Bogoria waters
Hot lies' bickers
Truth beavers
Of the probable death cause
Wife spiked meal with ground glass
Developed resistance to ARV drugs
Gunned down by fellow dope dealers
Mourners turned coroners
And the spirit hovers above
Over family; his love
Over masses like bees in a hive
A congregation for tummy's love
Among them his daughter and her mum the side dove
In time for the after-burial property shove
Clad all back
Creased faces, dimpled hearts
Wailing laughs
I lay face up, head pillowed
Stiff, heavy, body all cold
Below's melting as the freeze thaws
clubbed knees, clubbed elbows
Am so loved, am told
