Growing up's so difficult
we often get the blues,
from clumsiness and gangly legs
and wearing short-toed shoes. Then growing pains turn into aches
...

No matter where they lay me
my heart will always be,
Not in any cold, dark grave
but evermore with thee.

Everything I drink
and everything I eat,
gets lodged in mid locations
far above my feet.

Growing Up

Growing up's so difficult
we often get the blues,
from clumsiness and gangly legs
and wearing short-toed shoes. Then growing pains turn into aches
as we reach another stage,
to remind us in the war 'gainst aging
a new battle's being waged. Brittle knees and fingers that
just refuse to bend,
a sure-fire indication
we're growing closer to the end. The most unlikely parts have hurt
in oh so many ways,
cause hearts and pride keep
growing up, no matter what our age.
