Langelihle Maphumulo Poems

On an uphill road ahead
gawking at me,
A few twists and turns
lay inaudibly.
...

i toddle about like a captive...like a prisoner enslaved by words in my heart i walk around pacing back and forth...Sentences and paragraphs seeking to manifest themselves confine me to a chair with my now bowed head...running my eyes in the pages that are instruments in my creativeness,
To the rhythm that only i can hear, A pen dances like emotions within me,
Bouncing up an down......Tapping And twirling round and round....
Then i raise my head in celebration of liberty....free...i am free from all that's within me,
...

You love me like a dream come true, You sing me like a brand new song that's never
been sung before,
You play me like a symphony, Know me like you made me,
You hold me in your arms and feel my vulnerability and fragileness, You handle me with care,
...

You turn and step away,
Walk out and forsake me,
You steal my heart like sunset
sinking into the mountains.
...

Can i lay here beside you and feel the warmth
of your body all up against mine...? ,
Can i rub your shoulder all the way down,
line up our hands and feel your heartbeat
...

i am inspiration for history and stories narrated throughout times, i am human...a root of existence,
A tale told throughout days and years that lack wisdom and sanity, Wishing for a better day that gives new meaning to lost generations...
i am devotion to that search for stability within humanity, Evolving into unattainable sacredness like a daunting shadow of hope for a victorious future,
i am the past and present, i pave way for times to come through narrated chronicles down to my native peoples.
...

My yesterdays seem not so far away...
A place somewhere in me where there is YOU, Where there is US and everything we believed in.
For a moment i stop stepping, turn around and look back,
One moretime i visualise and fly away to where forever once lived,
...

Admiring the black sky tonight,
clouds battling to affirm
their white as snow
loveliness,
...

Take my hand and lead the way,
Guide me throughout this journey
and innocence of my childhood yet
once again,
...

i am the wind that swings across
the land,
i am the branches of a tree swaggering
side to side,
...

i'm lost without you,
A maust,
like a mort that's now
A nought,
...

Globe trotting had come to a steady unfold,
A somewhat part of me like the air i breathed,
Always commencing but to see a dead end,
Constantly changing like seasons before me...

Eachtime we cover new grounds we make headlines ain't second to none,
Verbalise, Realise and recognise a completely new different level....
We flash this money and add yet another acquintance to the entourage.
Who you be with..? , Your crew..? , My crew..? , Certainly not better than anyone,

You've got to love a woman that defines bliss within you,
She brightens up your world and gives meaning to all you're living for.
Her touch is tender, Her embrace warmer than the days of summer...
You've got to love a woman that falls on you like rain in times of drought, Without her your youth years are surely dull and uninspired, An uncertain endless journey without direction,
...

Feels like a hundred
Years ago,
like a dream that once
lived, Still
...

Remember when
Darkness clogged you,
A night so cold and dark
You fluttered inside,
...

17.

You induce life in me,
You are life in me.
like a beat in my heart
You maneuver me,
...

Hastily she drew nearer,
lazily rested her glare in my
eyes,
petrifying and beautiful like

Langelihle Maphumulo Biography

My love for poetry dates as far back as my late school days, Sometime when school was over and done with, i ran into a poetry book that had most of the material i read in school, i started reading them all over again on a regular basis. They had a way of evoking emotion in me, Some excitement if i can call it that.Still at that point in time it didn't cross my mind that i wuould write poems as well i.e.until the day i broke up with the love of my life. i suffered from insomnia and was deeply wounded, i needed someone to talk to just to axpress how i felt. i resorted to pen and paper and never looked back since then...)

I Smell Victory....

On an uphill road ahead
gawking at me,
A few twists and turns
lay inaudibly.
From a combat that just be,
A speck of massive dust
floats by in the air,
My eyes tuned up far
in the distance,
my head's camouflaged
in the cloud of ashes,
i struggle to breathe,
Yet in the midst of it all,
i smell victory...

Million miles ahead
Are steady strides taken
without sweat,
Voices in my head
From crowds on either side
Chanting and cheering,
Fuzzy dreams and vague
Visions in my mind
Refuse to die,
Living and breathing every
ounce of strength in me...

Life's twists and turns
Are as sharp as a blade
cutting through me like a knife.
Endlessly i bleed from this anguish,
i am weary and exhausted
yet in the midst of it all,
Smell victory that shouts
From within my brawn.
Weak yet still trodding,
Visualising the end that's near,
Sniffing and detecting it
Like a fog of smoke floating
in the air,
Victory is near! , victory is here! ,
i smell victory....
