A Horse Is For Life

If you'd removed the rubbish i decided to chew
If you'd removed my field of Ragwort and Yew,
If you'd bought a girth I wouldn't dislike you
If you'd bought a correctly fitting saddle to.
If you'd got a bridle that didn't pinch,
If you'd got a bit that gave an inch,
If you'd ridden me everyday
If you'd given me plenty of hay.
If you'd made sure i was wormed
If you'd took time to see me groomed,
If you'd rugged me in the rain
If you'd checked my health loss or gain.
if you'd seen me when each day came
If you'd realised I was lame,
If you'd bothered to buy a salt lick
If you'd noticed I was sick.
if you'd bothered to love me
If you'd given me company,
If you'd got a padlock for the gate
If you'd replaced the rope in a figure of eight.
If you'd given me a shelter made of wood
If you'd cared about the field like you should,
if you'd got a heavy fine when you were caught,
If you'd read what the books taught.

if you'd asked someone to help you
I would be here to.
