Jokpeme Joseph Omode Poems

When I deeply contemplate the transient nature of human life,
I realize that, from beginning to end,
life is impermanent like an illusion.
Oh death! Conqueror of man,
...

I have been observing;
Season unto season,
Time unto time
The vicissitudes that come to us
...

My heart suffers and bears the consequences
When I fall victim of any predicament
And my heart fears dangers ahead
That I even find it difficult to eat meals
...

No matter the stance, no matter the deeds
No matter the done; life must go on, must go on

Jokpeme Joseph Omode Biography

I am a student of history or an historian and also a poet.I am a creative individual that like sharing ideas and information.I am like every other person in the society but the difference between me and every other person is the impact of oneself on the society one lives. My works mirrors the society i work. I am walking towards perfection in order for me to be significant in terms of human awareness I promote.Though the vicissitudes of life has never given me leisure of certainty, it is one thing today and another tomorrow. But in all, my ability to learn from it is the dominant factor that i think I should hold on. The present plays an important role in helping us understand the past. The lessons of the past are like map into the future. My position in the society determines my experience.My problems and limitations have changed me to become critical sceptical.Variety is the spice of life.Time and tide wait for no one.The worth of water can never be known till the well runs dry. I cannot make omlettes without breaking eggs. Business before pleasure and from small beginnings come great things.God's Grace will follow me and lead me to outstanding success.)

The Transient Nature Of Human Life

When I deeply contemplate the transient nature of human life,
I realize that, from beginning to end,
life is impermanent like an illusion.
Oh death! Conqueror of man,
Why have you decided
To leave us with untold sufferings and pains?
Why have you decided to leave us
With nothing but tears and sorrow?

You make an end of man;
Great and small,
Rich and poor,
Strong and weak,
Wise and foolish,
Predators and preys alike;
Is the mother earth not tired of swallowing up everything?
When will she give up swallowing up everything?

Oh monstrous enemy!
Had you ask for money?
You would have been given millions;
If you would have requested for meat,
You would have been offered more than enough.
If you would have requested for sacrifices,
You would have been offered
More than you requested for.

And if you ask of money,
You would have been bought only by the rich
Which is meaniless.
But since you are the end of mortals,
And since you are the path I must go,
I shall prepare and come to you
With songs of praise and with hope to rise,
To conquere and live again.
