Your Birth Poem

You were born out of love
You were what I always wanted
A perfect 10 fingers and a perfect 10 toes
Daddy will be here until his dying day

My dream was being a dad
How me and your mom ended really made me sad
Know we both love you
It's not always easy, but dad is here

I have learned way too much along this ride
Hopefully I can teach you so you don't slide

You're perfect in every way
I see your smile and realize god blessed me
Your so perfect, it is crazy
God has big plans for you my son, appreciate them

You were equipped with all the qualities the world wants
After you leave home, it will be up to you to guide your path

You have my sense of humor, it makes me smile
On your high chair you offer me your food
Then you yank it away and laugh and smile
You are such a good kid, but still get mad when the fun ends

I didn't believe perfection existed on earth, then I saw you
Every morning I grab you out of that crib you smile and laugh
You love life and don't know enough about this crazy world
I'll teach you what to watch for so you aren't blind sided

I cried at 10 weeks when I saw the ultrasound
Then I found tears when you were born, earth bound
Just so you know, I hadn't cried in 20 years my boy
But those tears weren't tears of sadness, they were joy

Hopefully your dad can re-create his life
Before you were born he owned several houses
He worked with some of the top people in the US
I hope I can recreate my success, but divorce cut out past success

My main goal is to create and deliver an easier life for you
I don't plan on other kids, so if I succeed you are my successor
You are the beautiful ending to a page that is about to turn
But I am working day in and day out to take care of you

You should know almost 2 years in that I'm not going anywhere
I will always guide you and respect your opinions
But I will also guide you on your path, if you disagree tell me
Life is a blessing and a burden, make your decisions but run them by me
