Jeffrey T. Bender Poems

For freedom she awoke
And for freedom she broke
Her spell of silence and spoke.
And when freedom never came
...

Take this time now my child
And learn to find the wild,
Spirit that grows within you.
Let it burst through the seams
...

From a dark room came destruction
A twisted plot to kill the world
To show the power of one mind's corruption
From a dark room his plan unfurled.
...

Set out upon a path
A journey, to overcome wrath.
With funds, and guns, and musical math
'Til the springtime or hell and high water comes.
...

Behold the vision that I tell
And recall the day that Tower fell.
An angry mob took arms that day
And attacked the place where power lay,
...

Oh light of the East
What wonder doth I behold upon the morn?
A beauty my eyes doth rarely partake.
The glory of God in all His splendor.
...

I now take my leave of you
to go where you cannot go.
It is in sadness I bid adieu
If we meet again I do not know.
...

Greetings m'lady
Fare thee well this day?
Forgive me, my Queen,
for not introducing I who speak.

Shattering The Quiet

For freedom she awoke
And for freedom she broke
Her spell of silence and spoke.
And when freedom never came
She wiped her tears and rose again.
Many times she almost broke,
But stood her ground and never choked.
Man's crushing laws merely stoked
The fires of liberty within her throat
She bore a message that was pure and true
Out of her lips the words flew
Words of fresh beginnings, of starting anew.
They tried to quiet her down
But she hadn't made a sound
In far too long now.
For freedom she awoke
and for freedom she broke
Her spell of silence and spoke.
