jane horner Poems

I would never hurt a fly
I would not want him to die
I would not harm a mosquito
Even if he bit my toe
...

What’s the difference between you and me?
Why don’t you see what I see?
I can’t explain what it is with you
You don’t seem to do what I do.
...

How do we see the colours of life?
Blanc et Noir – black and white
Or white and black?
...

All Girls together pretty as bows
Cream and lipstick
Powder on your nose
...

Just to be
And feel nothing
Light and free
Sheer and shade
...

When we are born
We slip down from the womb
So soft and unknowing
Safe in hands, all hearts a-glowing
...

jane horner Biography

Born in Liverpool - dad a builder, mum a seamstress. Brought up in Kirkby - a posh scouser! I took up ballroom dancing when I was 7 and danced in competitions all over the country - reaching natinal finals. I never beleived that I could be a dancer/teacher.I did not follow my dream... I went on to become a nurse for people with learning diffuculties, and manged community services, then became a staff trainng officer. I have been fulfilled, satisfied and developed as a person through my experience of dealing with people in all sorts of walks of life, and my experience of my own family.I am married to Phil and we have 2 great kids -Olivia and Elliot. Now I am teaching health and social care to Btec students. Last year I had 2 health traumas - hospitalsied with extremely high blood pressure in january. In July I found a lump in my breast and had treatment for breast cancer. My treatment finsihed in June this year. And thanks to wonderful care and treament by the NHS I have recovered well and am back at work. AS a kid I loved writing poems and stories. I gave up when I was 18 and went to work. But after my illness I found my feelings and ideas about certain things and people needed to be expressed in print. I have only just started writing poetry in the last few months. It is usually something that starts off as a small seed - an atom of an idea. But I know that it is going to grow, and I have to start writing it down. I have written about friends, life, nature, and other gentle themes. I hope this is only the start and that I can develop much more in the future.)

The Best Poem Of jane horner

I Would Never Hurt A Fly

I would never hurt a fly
I would not want him to die
I would not harm a mosquito
Even if he bit my toe

I love to see life run free and wild
All creatures great and small
Man, beast and child

And people are the best creation
Why can’t we be peaceful – all one nation?
Be gentle and respect all human kind
For they are like you and I – a beautiful mind

I don’t want power over others
I say live and let live -
Let’s discover
Each others’ charms, talents and ideas
Support and assist in times of tears

Be open to the new and unknown
Not for fear to drag us down
Look at the problem from another place
Question yourself – and move on with good grace

We can grow in stature when we know
That to see all lives free is for us to grow,
So…………

When you see that fly again
Bid him good day,
Let him be

Written whilst thinking of how we can be more kind to each other - flies or people!
