Jacqueline Williams Poems

I invited Greg Gerbil for dinner,
he's such a good friend to me
he taught me to cook, like a sinner
I put on two pounds,  can you see?
...

When Mr Robin Redbreast comes to call on me
I like to open windows wide and ask him in for tea.
We both could share a fairy cake, or buns all topped with ice
Banoffee Pie or Tiramisu, yes both would be quite nice.
...

Drawn up by an invisible thread,
new life springs up towards the sun.
Escape from ground and leaves now dead,
from rotten decay of life past done.
...

Calling forth Thunder, Lightning and Raging Rain
Gloved hands, like ink dipped limbs extend.
No man alive her power could ever constrain
Or suspend… sound or light or waters, portend.
...

Step off into a land of dreams
of mind and beauty but nothing real
where life is full of fairy schemes
so warm and soft a thought - ideal.
...

Mystic metal, writhing, twisting, touch ice cold
Forms foreboding, barring entry, guarding paths threshold.
Dreadful shivers, fear provoking motion frozen still
Must move forward, ring for entry, forced by will.
...

Complaining, Complaining, Complaining that's Stan
He most certainly was an unusual man.
Every chance he would get, on his soapbox he stood
That soapbox well used, painted green, made of wood.
...

I like to choose an armchair and curl up with a book
Either fiction, fact or romance, I like to take a look.
To wallow in the thriller, what a glorious place to be
And get to grips with Ages Past in history B.C.
...

The Thrush is there for all to see
Her beauty to behold
She hops on twig and branch and tree
Her feet must be so cold.
...

Come into my magic garden
safe behind an old brick wall.
Lawned pathways will invite you,
can you hear them as they call?
...

The Gentleman invited (he thought) a refined Lady to dine.
On roast leg of lamb and an excellent French wine.
Glazed carrots and peas added colour to digest,
he awaited with ease the arrival of his guest.
...

Gently down white snow drifts once again
Crystals that float so light
Bob Robin searches food in vain
It will be a cold cold night.
...

Drinking slowly through a straw
I accidentally saw
my coffee table - breaking out in spots.
While the spots were turning blue

Gerbil For Dinner

I invited Greg Gerbil for dinner,
he's such a good friend to me
he taught me to cook, like a sinner
I put on two pounds,  can you see?

I wanted a hobby for weekends
I thought...fishing would be good for me
but Greg frowned and said ' let's have a party'
then invited his friends but not me!

So... I'm having Greg Gerbil for dinner
and carrots and peas which he'll hate
roast potatoes are always a winner
with Gerbil served up on a plate!
