Oh thou golden orb of glory
Shedding light on those around
Pushing up through stone and tarmac
Rising out of unfertile ground

Out of last year's grit thou riseth
Worrying not ‘bout what's overhead
Pushing to the sun undaunted
From thy exceeding uncomfortable bed

And still out of this unhospitable clime thou cometh
To bring light to all around
Lifting heads from dirt and gravel
To some higher and more glorious ground.
