Lessoned Learned

Exhaled smoke from my cigarette
Inhaled frustration from a life of regret
Poking his chest with an angry finger
That he simply brushed away
I guess that was his way
Of telling me
That it would be impossible to ruin his day
Backing up his statement with an intense stare
My sincerity blurred by the smoky air
Unspoken words transformed to surrendered sighs
I got lost in them, his diamond eyes
So did my voice
In that matter I had no choice
My focus turned to the flowers on my paper cup
Sinking further in my chair
Then he lifts me back up
Higher than before
Until we crash into each other
My sticky lipstick keeps our lips glued together
For an extra second
Maybe even two
And just like that
Something so simple
Became so much more
It explained everything
