You, the Sunflower, hugging the Sunny hours;
Attract bees in quite a gracious way,
But the snowy winter at last showers -
Requiem they sing and beauty decays.
...

I have seen the loveliest flower born,
My spirit flew to thee as a wild fawn;
Bequeathed the dewy night and morn:
Thy child was praised in every dusk and dawn.
...

Thou the inspiring maiden of the sky,
Wash thy dale with thine silvery rays,
As thou fade when dawns daunting eye;
Shines at ease over the full sway.

You are not born for death, immortal love;
Hungry generations will come they may tread you down,
I may hug the freeze or rest in peace,
Love unravished by time will serve the king and clown.

Sunflower

You, the Sunflower, hugging the Sunny hours;
Attract bees in quite a gracious way,
But the snowy winter at last showers -
Requiem they sing and beauty decays.

I fortify memories with love and rhyme,
I fight with a pen against Tyrant time,
Love i suppress - not a heinous crime,
Platonic it is; but sometime declines.

I pray for your eternal summer,
But this sphere itself devours it's fruits,
May you have dandies and fair charmers;
Even the Grand Oak reeks its root.

The face that nature itself has painted,
Those beauty spots, that remained untainted;
The smile that leave your cheeks dented,
But all decays that from time has rented.

Those lined eyes glazed with glee,
Never opened the gates to your bosom,
But through the poet, you shall see,
Not the Rose but Love's rarest blossom.

You'll grow old and your limbs will tire,
When beauty will reek none will admire,
Neither the fool nor the Sire,
This rhyme will stay - But bodies expire.
