The Best Poem Of Crystie Cook

September Concerto

Listen to wind composing
sycamore-leaf songs,
rustling along the rim
of green light and shadow.

Confident cottonwoods
interject an intermezzo
of quivering elation,
running like cool water
down my back.

A downy woodpecker
flashes his red neck,
like a stray eighth note
announcing Autumn.
