The Public Servant's Blessing

I have always envied the UPS man.
His innocent knocking
brings us to the door, whatever stae
we are in.
He has seen the bussinesswoman
in sweatpants;
He has seen the successful lawyer
In pajamas;
he has seen the worst of our faces,
the introverts cracking a smile.
What is it about a brown package
and the man who bears it
that prompts us to dropp our lives, rush to the door
and find him there?
I have no right to be a poet.
The UPS man and I
should trade places;
he has seen it all.
