Along came my strange friend Yohanness
Experimenting with water, clocks and brass
He writes in verse, talked diverse
He thought he was god - and his girl a goddess
...

Her smile is soothing
Takes away all your pain
Makes you feel as if somehow
You have died and went to heaven
...

Will I die,
That I know
But how am I going to die?
That I do not know
...

deep within my thoughts
there is a place
where milk and honey flows
and the sun never sets
...

I once heard an old woman saying this
To the group of eager listeners
She Said….
...

Your face is...
hidden
withered by endless pain
You cry
...

The Unruly

Along came my strange friend Yohanness
Experimenting with water, clocks and brass
He writes in verse, talked diverse
He thought he was god - and his girl a goddess
He argued there were four elements in all
That plants had sex, the Earth was like a ball
That Change took place by love and strife
And historic circles ran through life
When called upon to prove his deity
He sneered at all the waiting laity
Great John, The ardent soul
Leapt into Sawa*, and was roasted whole.

* a notorious military camp
