The Hospital

I remember the metal taste
Blood filled my mouth
Dripping down my face onto my hand
The blood colored paper towel dried my mouth
Darkness of an ambulance
Tingling feelings of pain all over my face
Vivid red all over my shirt
A doctor wearing all white came to me
Said “everything’s going to be ok.”
I was terrified that metal taste still in my mouth
A giant needle in my lip
My entire lip became numb
He began sewing my face together
I couldn’t help but watch
Finally it was over
Long drive home
Staring into the darkness of the night
My bed called my name
I crawled into the comfort of my blankets and pillows
Swallowing me into a deep sleep
