Time

As time goes on,
people only age,
thought I.

I didn't know that
they would change
and why.

Never would anyone
scrutinize so much,
as if everything has
a hidden meaning
or such.

Gone are the days
when happiness was
simple and easy.
When joy came
without thought.

All these realizations
make me feel uneasy.
My mind feels as if
there's a battle being
fought.

I don't know how long
this battle will rage,
but I hope there will be
peace at some stage.
