Farther
A Father lives life through the eyes of his son
I am fortunate to have you, as my only one
Reflecting in you, all I hoped to be
Succeeding each goal, doing what I merely see
You doing well where I may have not
Pride in your success, hits that perfect spot
So let me offer what only I can
Its part of my job to help make you a man
You need to know how to handle your role
Push your self hard, pull from deep in your soul
Sometimes it’s tough to fully understand
What you’ve been given by our lords own hand
Look around at others each day of your life
Where you find success, they have only found strife.
Make sure to appreciate all that you’ve done
Learn from each loss and the battles you’ve won
When you succeed don’t take it less care
For some even once would result in a tear
Make sure you realize that winnings a gift
Don’t wash it downstream or set it a drift
Not knowing what you have till it’s gone
Is no way to live, it just passes life on
Make sure to enjoy the game loose or win
Playing, not watching, you make the wheel spin
Hoping to force your mind to wonder
Is this something I hope for, it may seem an order
May you always be grateful for things you have still
Don’t stop your walk, when you come to a hill
If I only accomplish one thing as your Father
May it be that you continuously push yourself
