Crazy 'bout You Poem by Practicing Poetess

Crazy 'bout You

Rating: 5.0

I can't stop thinking 'bout you
No matter what I do
Day or night, one thing is true
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!
You're my first thought when I wake
You're the icing on my cake
You're the tune in my kazoo
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!
You're the cutest thing I've seen
Sweeter than a jelly bean
You are lovebirds when they coo
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!
You're the sugar in my tea
Steady like a honeybee
And with you, I'm never blue
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!
You're the poetry I write
You're the one I kiss goodnight
You're a bowl of Irish stew
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!
You're the best thing in my life
I'd be glad to be your wife
You're why one and one makes two
Don'cha know, I'm crazy 'bout you!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wanted this to have the flavour of an old-fashioned jazz song. Also, to capture how giddy and silly love can make you feel sometimes.

A good write, and my favourite line - you're the tune in my kazoo. A 10.

Thank you, Carl, for reading, appreciating, and rating! The robot lady who 'reads' the video for PH is massacring my poem! She's ruining the rhythm and cadence, and mispronouncing words! Best to pause her, and mute the volume!

I can picture Billie Holiday singing this. Fine images and words.

I very much like the free verse, jazz song style with hip words-'Don'cha know', 'crazy 'bout you'. A touching, honest love poem. I like jazz too.

Well, Michael, let's get out our saxophones, and play a duet! I had so much fun writing this one. It's a shame that jazz doesn't seem to be appreciated as much, as it once was. Thanks for liking! :)

Love it. And what a lucky fellow this must be addressed to. A 10

Thank you, Barry! I write poetry, which, after all, is what makes up song lyrics. But I can't compose music. Anyone know of a good (living, obviously) jazz musician? I'm open to suggestions! :)

What a lucky person, to be so loved.! Most people die of love starvation But not those in the poem above. Such an affectionate, adorable deeply felt well expressed poem. Could be the lyrics of a Judy Garland song, times when songs were really songs. Much enjoyed

Sandra, truth be known, I hope to feel this way about someone, someday. As I'm sure you know, writers derive their inspiration from a myriad of sources. I have a very fertile imagination, as do most writers of novels, plays, and film scripts. This particular poem is a blend of my vivid imagination, and recalling/reminiscing about times past when I was in love- - how I felt then, and just letting the memories carry me away. Of course, perhaps if I stayed off the computer and got out more, I'd stand a better chance of meeting that special someone in real life! But until then, I say, if you don't yet have the real thing, then at least WRITE about it. (Makes me wonder how many lonely women write romance novels!) I always cherish your comments!
