Bohemian Rhapsody Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Bohemian Rhapsody

Rating: 5.0

To live free
Not on dirty streets
Full of bigotry
Where you're spit upon
With worst of insults
Where the spoiled brat's vomit
Hits face and smarts weary eyes
Where the filthy rich's neatly groomed French poodle
Pisses and shits upon your humanity

To live free
Not in a shelter for the homeless
Where urine-perfumed air stings the nostrils
And freshly released vomit smells like stale juice
Where cockroaches and rats battle for supremacy
Where humanity is reduced to less than zero
And the struggle for survival is a contest of wills
Where the less severely depressed win by chance alone

But instead, to live free
In a storage locker
Covered by a blanket of knowledge
Surrounded with friends from other worlds
In books filled with reality and fantasy
To cleanse the mind of rat-infested thoughts of bigotry
To shower side-by-side with the mentally and physically fit
To feel a shred of humanity in a cage full of brutality
To taste the bittersweet reality of a bohemian rhapsody

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Seeing my friend after seven years, selling books on a street corner, wasn't unusual. After all, this was his chosen profession. What was unusual and shocking was that his abode was the storage locker where he stored his books and his few possessions. This poem is dedicated to him and to all who have chosen the bohemian lifestyle. In many ways, they are so much freer.

I didn't know about this poem till I heard that Queen named their famous song after it. Its interesting and gives excellent imagery. I am glad I chose to search it up, it does give off the feeling of peace.
