7-11 Poem by Vishal Kadrekar

7-11

1,2,3……….8 acts of destruction brought the city to a standstill,
Flesh and blood splattered on the dark silver stone,
Some gasping for that extra moment of life,
Battle for life.
Souls began their journey in the silver moon light,
Succumbing to destiny or maybe destiny succumbed to acts of evil.
Some people laughed their way into the night,
Singing songs, singing praises.
The hopeful and tried eyes of a mother, father and a child waiting an endless time,
With a prayer on their lips and hope in their heart.
Some come, some didn’t.
Night descended with a blanket of clouds,
There was so much peace in this moment of hatred.

After 365 days, the violent memory numbs our mind.
The wounds of sorrow are still fresh for some,
They say time is the best healer,
But at times wounds may heal, but scars may remain.
