Youths Poem by Wensislaus Mbirimi

Youths

Youths' life today is sadness
Thieving and whoring, it is madness
Walk a street at night, taste the badness
Woman and children, sick and elderly, the defenceless
Shameless youth attack, they are ruthless
Grannies, youths of yore impart in them the niceness

I too is a youth but god's tool
Fellow youths drugs aint cool
Remember my teacher at school
Urging us to shun drugs and be no fool

Warring and whoring killing the youth
Looting and shooting now pastime of the youth
Boom; a gunshot is heard
All shiver with dread
Six o'clock news is read
Another youth is dead
Silence; power of the word
Gun toting simply bad
It makes me mad
And I see red
As another tear I shed
For another bright future now dead
