Youth Travel Distilled Reaps Wisdom Poem by Terence George Craddock

Youth Travel Distilled Reaps Wisdom

I returned quite changed
even from my earliest travels
culture shock language shock
climate shock attitude thought shock
cityscape juxtaposition rural landscape
identity shock insignificant among millions
self imposed thought values analysis
changed preconceptions mindscape

countries were not media depictions
cultural bias news political spin models
denied human essence commonality
good people share a common decency
journey with aware appreciation innocence
seek heart core good embrace essence beauty
