Your Ways Poem by Abubakar Ahmed Imam

Your Ways

From the gloom of my nights to the light of my days
I find myself counting your countless salient ways

Could I ever imagine the pain I caused you
When through succession of miracles up I grew?

Ah! For you it was nothing but smile along the way
As you mopped your brow and waited for the big day

Soon I was a bud growing on your gentle lap-
A charming flower of your womb springing up

Your sweet love still continued and your tenderness-
All you cared for was peace and a smile on my face

You were there for me: a glowing lamp in darkness
You were there for me: a strong pillar in distress

You taught me everything and sealed it all with love
Before it was time to answer the call from up above

Though my dreams were shredded the day you went away
I was strong to rise to be what I am today

And these tears that flow from the depth of my eyes
Are banished by the hope that you dwell in paradise
