Your Memory Poem by Sasanka Sekhar Panda

Your Memory

Rating: 5.0

You could not bear the love I gave you
and committed suicide in the remotest corner
of your own heart
and I suddenly felt
as if I have descended
to the devouring darkness
of an unseen land.

It was too late
when I came to realize that
the frozen distance can't bring hope
and the meetings in dreams
were the saddest of the things.

In the silence of this hour
the garden of my heart is empty
without any flower,
only decayed leaves
lying scattered everywhere,
and as if the birds are startled
and everywhere
only the cruel pervading silence.

I know
your eyes were not like this
at your birth
so much complex
like an abstract painting.

Today for me
all your beauty
exhibits only the darkness
the horror of a haunted house
and the pains of the damaged
highland crops without water
and, I am dropping into some
thorny oblivion, the dark abyss
of your sharp memories.
