Your Letter Was A Gift To Me Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Your Letter Was A Gift To Me

Rating: 5.0

Your letter was a gift to me
Made me cry
Because it meant much to me
To know something I said or did
touched you somehow
And helped to keep your heart open
That God might make an impression on you
I don't think he wants you to be like a little sheep
To never question
To sit in a pew and never make a peep
But God is all around us, even when we sleep
So never feel alone, even as you mourn or weep
God gave us free-will to observe, explore, question and seek
He accepts both the bold and meek, the sick and the weak
But in time you'll find the fighting leads you back
And all along everything you searched for was inside
You only find it when you open your heart wide
And give of yourself to others by your side
We can't change the way others treat our care
We can't change what is and isn't fair
But we can’t pretend that we’re not there
When others are in need of care
I’m happy now, I saw you there
When you were lashing out and scared
Your Thank You was an unexpected blessing
And let me know it helped somehow that I cared
