Your Day, My Night Poem by Brian Sonberg

Your Day, My Night

I. Day

The ground feels solid today
The needle points straight down the middle
Waiting for a shift left
My face
Meeting the earth again
But nothing
The clouds and sky above
The grass still below

II. Night

Nothing is quiet but the night
The rest a buzz…resonating
Closed eyes won't stop the spinning
The lids spring open to surreal
Nothing makes sense here
Like it did just yesterday
Understanding surroundings becomes pointless
Just wait it out
Hope normalcy returns tomorrow
Sanity renewed
