You Were In My Heart Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

You Were In My Heart

Rating: 5.0

What I needed to know of you
I knew in a moment
The first moment we spoke
I wanted to believe it
And you did nothing to break the spell
I love you from afar
My words, you know them well
But words are just a part of me
There is more in me to tell
But love is strong even if not expressed
It twists and turns and still I feel blessed
To know you, I felt tenderness
It made me more...not less
I love you from afar even though life's a mess
Sometimes I try to say goodbye
Thinking perhaps it's best
But if I said goodbye it would be just a lie
And so I must confess
I love you somehow
Through the blue and through the lonliness
You make me kinder to everyone
Because now I feel a sense of love
Breifly felt its warmth and tenderness
and the best thing I can imagine now
Is to hold you, to hold your hand in mine
And to feel the softness of your kiss
I'll walk my road however lonely
And feel love's fragilness
With distant hope to feel it's bliss
And if I'm swept a way in sea of lonliness
Remember this
You were in my heart.
