You Remain The Constant Memory Poem by Kyle Schlicher

You Remain The Constant Memory

YOU REMAIN THE CONSTANT MEMORY

out of nowhere
it suddenly
came to me,

hitting me
between the eyes,

a killing blow
delivered
swiftly efficiently
to my solar plexus:

a double shot of reality.

the truth
of the matter
exposed
in one simple fact:

i will never see you again.
