You Don't Have To Poem by Gary James Smith

You Don't Have To

Rating: 5.0

You Don't Have To

You don't have to go to church to be saved
You can be saved right where you are
Whether in the living room of your home
Or even while sitting in a car
I heard the testimony of one man
And the telling of it was sweet
He was saved while walking up a hill
I thought that that one was really neat

I myself was saved at home
After God's Word revealed to me
That my Salvation was dependant on Christ
And what He did on Calvary
The Holy Spirit brought it home
I was a sinner lost and undone
And that if I would repent of my sinful ways
I could be saved by the Crucified One

The darker the night the brighter the light
I looked to the Lamb of God
His Word of truth revealed and the Holy Spirit sealed
I knelt there when I understood
I prayed the prayer of a humble child
Lord Jesus I now do believe
I am a sinner in need of You Lord
And by faith in You I now believe

What witness was birthed in my heart that day
As the burden of my sin was all gone
I cast all of my cares upon Him then and there
I knew my new life had begun
Now I was excited to go to church
I knew how important it was
For it pointed me to Jesus and the old rugged Cross
Now to own and to share His great cause!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!

Excellent poem on your personal encounter with the Savior. It reminded me of the day I gave my life to Christ Jesus and how He led me to the truth by His Word. Wonderful poem, a real blessing to read.
