You Are An Elixir Poem by William Jackson

You Are An Elixir

Rating: 5.0

You are an elixir, a magical draught
of which I can never quite get enough.
And the maddening shame of it is
I have not even tasted a single drop
of delicious you.

Still, I am drawn to you like Odysseus to the Sirens.
Like him I have lashed myself to the mast.
Sadly, I know this is entirely insufficient.
Since I have no wax with which to stop my ears,
I shall go quite mad!

Nothing like a good elixir to warm the body... lol Good, I enjoyed. But then again i enjoy all your writtings. Keep up the love. Let it fly like a turtle dove from the ark of life.

William~ Your words speak such high volumes! I found myself drifting along with every word & sat admiring your perfection at the end... My favorite part was, 'Since I have no wax with which to stop my ears, I shall go quite mad! ' Your words are unspeakable!

I like energy in this and the Homer reference. Just watch out for Scylla and Charybdis - so many ways for a man to go down. -chuck

I love your imagery...how you pull from every end of time to create a beautifully put together portrait of now. Amazing and quite passionate William. Thanks for the read. :) Bj

Glass half empty or full? These passions tantalize, untouched, until I'm drunk on the mere thought of you... Magical draught, indeed, William. Very nice-Sandra

This is one of the best I read in along time... It's just perfect, it makes me feel the energy of the words, of those feelings so powerfully! I just had to give you a 10, but you deserve so much more for this! ~~Elya Thorn~~

A take on human passion, with a fit reference to Homer's Odyssey (which I appreciated) , that shows that love and admiration, in excessive amounts, can border upon insanity, but a good insanity as it promotes a wondrous theme. A good and very worthwhile read. - K.
