Yesterday Will Wait Poem by jimmy manganda

Yesterday Will Wait

I am on the brink of an everlasting ending, the days are long,
The nights are cold; I am running on a road with no forward vision,
I see tomorrow, but fear that yesterday has forsaken me,
I love yesterday, but I must leave her behind,

Tomorrow calls my name; she is the one that I want
Yesterday paved my way, she made my dreams,
Tomorrow wants me to find her, she makes me proud
She reminds me that failure is not an option, I must achieve

Yesterday speaks to me and asks me if I remember her,
She wants to know if I acknowledge her existence,
She asks if I cherish her inspiration on me when I was with her,
Where I'm from is where she is, but it's where I am going that matters the most,

Yesterday used to tell me I am meant for great things,
She wrote a letter so I can pass it on to tomorrow,
She said, ‘believe in him, he is a light in a field of dreams'
And tomorrow waits to welcome me

I love yesterday for she paved the way for my integrity,
She paved the way for my wish to accomplish beyond expectations,
I will not let her down, and I will rely on tomorrow to re-assure me
She will grant me all that I deserve, as yesterday promised me

I can see but I'm blind to what tomorrow looks like,
I can hear but I am deaf to what she speaks,
Yesterday's voice stays in my head for ever,
She said strive to succeed by doing the best you can, nothing less
I love yesterday, but I am in love with tomorrow,

My life is empty without yesterday and life full with tomorrow,
Yesterday's tales warm my heart, but it's the untold stories of tomorrow that I want, that I need, that make me curious,
Yesterday's love is unconditional; tomorrow says she will make me happy, if I work my hardest today

Yesterday gave me the tools I need to plan, plot, strategise and succeed,
Tomorrow challenges my capabilities and I respond with my head up high, I will rise above all expectations,
I love yesterday for all that I am today, but its tomorrow that I need
Yesterday will wait
