Yesterday's Goodbye

Yesterday you walked away from me
but where are your footsteps leading you?
Could you be leaving somewhere far away
a place I'll never find you?

Yesterday you laughed with me
I walked you home and talked about your favorite food
we got to your doorstep
a kiss, a hug

Goodbye

Yesterday you told me we rushed into it
but how did you come to this conclusion?
did you come up with it without an intrusion?
you wouldn't speak to me
you wouldn't explain it to me
so how am I to figure it out on my own?

Yesterday I finally understood what you meant
I moved on with life and am only a friend
We still talk and everything
but how can I get you out of my head?
Maybe I can finally get rid of you
if I leave you with Yesterday's Goodbye
