Yes I Do Poem by Godfrey Machuka

Yes I Do

Rating: 5.0

When…
When that predestined time shall come
When destiny shall indeed bow to itself
When echoes of reality shall replace our dreams
And cast on our expectant selves the intriguing fact
When the hums of violins combine with whistles of flutes
And colour the air with ecclesiastical sensation
When those vows bubble from our overwhelmed hearts
And those little precious ornaments slide into our ring fingers
When tears gather in the edges of your eyes
And consolidate, melt then trickle down your perfect cheeks
When our trembling lips meet to seal the promise
And your strength thaws; you fall into my arms
When those masses of eyes shall enviously watch us
Hand in hand, side by side
Ecstatically and in measured steps go down the aisle
When the witnesses enrich the occasion with ululations
And our new journey finally officially announced
When that predestined time shall come...
Know that I said ‘Yes I Do'
Even before I'd met you
