Xanadu: My Fantastic World And Reality Poem by nadia abduljabbar

Xanadu: My Fantastic World And Reality

Coleridge wrote about Kubla Khan,
And his crated visionary world:
Xanadu, Olivia Newton
Jones sang too
For her artistic city: Xanadu
With the beautiful sex or seven
Muses of poetry.

I also create my own Xanadu,
But it Is attached to reality,
For I am never
Satisfied or really happy with only
Imaginative world that cannot be
Fulfilled in actuality. My Xanadu or
My only dream that came true
Is the balcony or terrace from which
I can see the swimming pool.

In summer; I don’t enjoy it much,
But in winter things are different
In Jeddah; everything is playful
Singing and wild; birds in sky sing
Different tone of happiness, fish
Become apparently spirited,
Cats hunt like cave man,
And return to sleep like sleeping
Beauty. From the panorama in
The coloured fiber glass ceiling
Of the terrace, I watch moon
And stars happily. Finally I could
Watch the sky at night as in childhood.

Yes even a balcony has a ceiling
In jeddah, to cool it in summer,
With an air conditioner,
You see in life; we can't have all,
Cool, Gold, Gaz, Oil and Petrol,
And enjoy good weather
In the same city or country.

What a dream that I never thought
I could make it come true,
I am happy that God helped me finally
To enjoy watching water from early
Morning until late at night,
Though I never enjoyed living beside
A beloved and might never do,
But in such a case I will never
Imagine things about a beloved;
To me either I have him in reality
Or I cut all relation with fancy,
That might drag me to lunacy;
Oh yea, either reality or no more
Fanciful dreams and songs
That can never come true;
In such a case I will not
Lose my sanity.
