Wrong To Believe Poem by Francis Duggan

Wrong To Believe

I used to believe in my mind it was true
That what we receive from life it is only our due
But on this of late i have changed my mind
That i have been wrong in some of my thinking to the fact i am resigned
In the World there are billions of people who through no fault of their own
Who only poverty and sadness in their lives of have known
Children of poor parents who have never known of an easy day
The lady of luck never does smile their way
Down in their luck and financially down
And living in a high unemployment area of their town
So few can hope to rise above poverty
They deserve better would you not agree
I was wrong to believe in my mind it was true
That from life we receive what is only our due.
