Worthwhile Poem by Jay Harris

Worthwhile

Rating: 5.0

The spring opened with much promise
The summers glow warmed my skin
Yet all my life, here I have waited
And never a hope so keen

As my soul floats in the autumnal grove
And the elegant colours quilt the ground
Promise of a biting winter chills
It is you I see, a warmth I’ve found

A body you have none of
But a mind and will so strong
So clear yet distant a figure
Although soothing I hear your song

This place is yours, this serene grove
Your soft eyes rest, they know it so well
The trees lay a soft path on for you
Its here I’ve waited, fending off hell

You may now rest in my eager arms
I have waited although not knowing what for
Your journey has been long and hard
My wait here torturous, trapped in my mind
