Worth Poem by Chanja Cassini de Thury

Worth

I guess you’re right
I’m not worth it all
I yank you up
To watch you fall

I watch you splatter
Into many brilliant butterflies
While I laugh at
You for believing there wasn’t ingenuity in my lies
I yell your name in tongues
I scream your secrets
You knew Id break your heart
And yet you let me keep it

I chased the sun over the horizon
Running far away from my feelings
But you still felt them
You ran right smack into them

My eyes were covered
My mind was so blind
It was so easy
Literally such a perfect crime
But you knew
Oh how you knew
Even before I did
How I was such a waste of time

The effect, like Chernobyl
Still affects me
Oh baby, oh baby
How it drives me crazy…

You ran the path I refused to walk
And there you run your eyes over me from the finish line
Watching me stumble and trip, going through my silly thoughts
That replay in my head “you were a waste of time, you were waste of time”
