Words Poem by LeighAnna Williams

Words

I speak aloud to acknowledge the fact I have a voice.. Yes I speak words. I speak truth that lays open to me but when spoken like the words of God many will not hear. I grasp the pen & wisdom flows. Constantly I rummage through memories of things not worth remembering. Where is the strength that allows me to forget the past? I pray for guidance to see me through but everytime I see a light I look up to a face that resembles you. Funny how you haunt me even after I've thrown you away. Shredded up your letter and burned your jacket. Carved out your government and replaced you with reality. Blocked you from all my dreams. I couldn't retreat. I couldn't run, tried, escaped, & failed when I heard your name but no longer do I play your game. These are words of a heart no longer broken these are the words of a heart that no longer knows you. I could see you in the street & if you looked my way I wouldn't see anyone in front of me. I speak aloud to acknowledge I have a voice... Yes I speak Words. 'Words.'
