Wish To Wish Poem by alex haywood

Wish To Wish

A nerve wracking pain
spreads over me when it rains
I'm home here among
the ruins of my faith.
Gather yourself and
look inside
tell me what you see!
My heart like an only eye
a cycloptic stain on
an otherwise ordinary canvas
stares back at me.

I must remember this
being this small
and this precious

Going from this wish to that wish
like a New England tide
under full moon
No remembrance like an arrow
points to the right answer

Am I incapable
of more knowledge?

There is no gain in
going against the current
and I am a cautious gambler
Yet I have the mystery of eyes
my curiosity drenched skin
needs to be rubbed
anointed with the oil
pressed from life.

Therein I go
from wish to wish.
Is it possible for anyone
to understand me?
