Wish Poem by John Allen

Wish

Rating: 4.5

i wish so intensely

that after an hour or two

my hopes are as vapid

as the murmurs of a child

pretending, closing his eyes

above smoldering birthday candles

I love this piece. The wishing to believe in a wish. Lovely, thank you.

Wonderful, succint piece. Beautiful imagery and the expression of a pause between each line seems to illustrate an intyake of breath. Demanding the reader ponders each line. I like it when the writer demands effort from the reader. That shows confidence and strength.
