Wide Awake A Sleepless Monster Poem by Dorsey Baker

Wide Awake A Sleepless Monster

When the jumpy bulldog
Breaks down to cry
His heart out
He hides himself
Out of sight

His weakness
He never lets it show
And the world
It never would know

That from those eyes salty tears
They would fall
That after midnight
All his demons
They would come to call

The bleeding so heavy
The cut so very deep
Darkness has fallen
But still
The monster is wide awake
Because the demons voices
They just won't let him sleep
