Who's Who Poem by Katherine Perry

Who's Who

Rating: 4.5

The journey towards the center of you
Who would like to take that trip
All the things you've done
All the things you'd like to
Then things tried but didn't like one
little bit

Do we really know who we are inside
Or do we learn through what others view
And if it is always man to whom we abide
Then how can we develop true uniquenesses
of me and you

What should start as an infant
Is also influenced as an infant
So our own creativity is somewhat guided
from the start
Some grow up with rules that are strict
And some with rules that are bent
Then there are those whom get guided through
the dark

But we all wind up in the same place
That is, in this great big world we live in
All with different up-bringings, different
colors and different races
And yet we are but all just the same within

When we pass by a mirror, it is our nature
to look
But what do we really see
Do we remember back when we were growing up
and the time it took
To become what others have thought of you
and me

The next time you pass by a mirror on the
wall
Stop and stare for awhile
You would think it would be easy, but it won't
at all
And you'll find it to be strangely uncomfortable
to smile

For none of us know ourselves as much as we think
we do
We can't even tell of ourselves to our own face
But when it comes to telling others of who's who
in the me and you
That my friends is how we put others in their
right place!
