Who Is He? Poem by Royston Allen

Who Is He?

Down in the gutter where the rubber hits the road
and the people are carrying such a heavy load,
You will find Jesus walking and talking to them
This Son of God, this Holy Man of Bethlehem.

There He reaches out to the man with leprosy
There He opens eyes so that the blind can see
There He unstops the ears of a man born deaf
Calls a dead man from the dark grave and gives him breath.

Who is this One of whom all of the prophets speak?
Who is this Holy One whom all the Wise men seek?
He is Jesus the Christ, the Way, the Truth and Life
Who has opened heaven's door by His sacrifice.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I met a recently converted ex-drug addict while he was returning from a bible study at the local MacDonald's take away. When I asked him what passage he had studied - He told me that they just opened the bible and talked about Jesus"
