Who Poem by Jack E and Rosie Blennim

Who

When seated one day by the window,
I saw a man I had not seen for years.
“Rosie! ” I cried out,
“Come see whose wondering about? ”
She came and stood close beside me.
And through the window she looked out.

“Who am I looking for, Jack? ”
“Why, darling, look over there! ”
“Where? ”
“There! ”
“Who? ”
“Him! ”
“Whose that? ”
“It’s thingy! ”
“Thingy? ”
“Whose thingy? ”
“Him! ”
“Where? ”
“There! ”

Unable to focus her gaze,
The man could no longer be seen.
Yet all through the night, the man haunted out thoughts.
Then suddenly, she sat up and beamed;
“Oh, I think I know who you mean? ”

Her warm eyes smiled softly as she uttered these words,
“You mean thingy who was married to what’s name! ”
“What’s name? ”
“Yes, her! ”
“Who? ”
“Her! ”
“Whose that? ”
“Thingy! ”
“Whose thingy? ”
“Her, down the road.”
“Where? ”
“There! ”

We were both now confused and haunted by thoughts,
Not of one soul but of two.
Determined to solve the mystery once and for all,
Through the village we decided to take a stroll.

But, oh, sad to say the man I had seen,
In the night had selfishly passed away.

The village gossip, who knew all to be known,
Was sure her information was true,
As Rosie asked; “Are you sure it was him? ”
To which the woman replied.

“Who? ”
“Him! ”
“Thingy? ”
“Thingy who! ”
“What’s name? ”
“What’s name who? ”
“Him!
“Where? ”
“Him, that’s popped awf up there! ”
“Up where? ”

Such a conversation I will never repeat,
It was once that still rattles my nerves.
I would not be surprised to find on his tombstone is scrolled,
These dreadful and following words…

“Here lies thingy.
Who?
Him!
Thingy?
What’s name!
Where?
Here!
(Oh dear…)

(Ok, ok, we’ll stop now I promise! ”
